Working Days Over for $50 million Oz Lotto Winner
A man from Burra in South Australia hadn’t seen the December 10 Oz Lotto draw. He had no idea that the $50 million jackpot had been won. Then he checked his ticket and discovered he’d won the top prize.
His winning Oz Lotto ticket hadn’t been registered, so the organisers had to wait for the prize to be claimed. When he did finally make contact, his initial comments were: “I’m not bad!” This was only minutes after he’d found out he was a multi-millionaire.
“$50,000 would be alright”
“It’s unbelievable! I’m shellshocked,” continued the Oz Lotto winner. He explained how earlier that day he’d said to himself “$50,000 would be alright heading into Christmas.” Little did he know at the time his Oz Lotto ticket had already won him $50 million.
This is the second-biggest win of the year in South Australia. Seven months ago, a man from Adelaide won a $150 million Australian Powerball jackpot. That remains the largest ever win by an individual player in Australian lottery history.
“Absolutely everything”
Still in shock at what had happened to him, he hadn’t had time to consider how his Oz Lotto win would be spent. When thinking about it though, he said: “This does absolutely everything for me. Absolutely everything.”
He plans on treating himself and his family. As for work it looks as if he’s not going to be doing that again. “I think my workdays are done,” declared the delighted Oz Lotto winner.
His winning Oz Lotto ticket was purchased from the Burra Terry White Chemmart Pharmacy. The store is owned by Kelly Bray and she’s also been celebrating the win.
It’s a memorable occasion for her store as this is the first division one winning entry they’ve sold. “I can’t stop shaking and I didn’t even win it,” joked the store owner.
Kelly described the win as not just “big news” for her pharmacy but also for Burra. “I’m so stoked for our winner and wish him all the very best with his prize,” she added.
