Work as Usual for $50 million Lotto Max Winner

What would you do if you won a $50 million jackpot? The aptly named Pierre Richer from Montreal in Quebec in Canada won that amount in the October 6 Lotto Max draw but just said ‘OK’ and still got up at 4.30am the next day to go to work.

No retirement yet

Even though he admits the job is poorly paid, immediate retirement is not being considered by the winner who is in his 60s. Instead, he wants to spend a few weeks “to process the win” and then decide what lies ahead in his future.

When he bought his Lotto Max ticket, that wasn’t the main reason he was out shopping. He was in a food store with his daughter and keen on getting some pie crust that had been reduced in price. Will he still look for bargains now he’s won $50 million?

It wasn’t until the day after the draw that the jackpot win was discovered but not by Pierre but his wife and daughter. When realizing that $50 million had been won his daughter began to scream. At first her family thought she’d seen a spider but it was nothing as frightening as that.

The celebrations began but her father simply said “OK” and then went back to what he was doing before being disturbed.

His wife and daughter are understandably delighted with news of the Lotto Max jackpot win. Pierre says he’s “a little happy” and added: “I feel the same.”

Plans for his Lotto Max winnings include buying a new car and a house. His major goal once the new home is purchased is to mow the lawn!
