Wishaw Residents Win £7.9m People’s Postcode Lottery Prize

A £7.9m People’s Postcode prize has been won by 600 neighbours in Wishaw, Scotland on February 26. Six of the winners had the full postcode ML2 0EN and each receive £368,461.

The win is the largest single People’s Postcode Lottery success in Scotland. One of those winning £368,461 is Jean Moffat. The 74-year-old couldn’t believe how much had been won.

No caviar for Jean

In fact, she was so shocked, Jean dropped her cheque. The grandmother of six then picked it up and declared she was going to frame it and put it on a wall. Her winnings will be used to “help as many people as I can,” said the People’s Postcode Lottery winner.  She doesn’t want “big fancy things” and joked that she’ll still be having her fish suppers, rather “than switching to caviar”

Jean joked that her grandchildren are “more excited” about the win than she is. “It’s kids, they’re always wanting something.” It was a family success as her son and cousin also won £8,092 in the People’s Postcode Lottery draw.

Another six-figure winner is Katrina Drummond. The 47-year-old mother of one said she’d have “been happy with just one thousand” but is another of the £368,461 winners. Katrina says the win will allow her to help her friends and family and “hopefully keep me comfortable for a long time.”

New car needed

The People’s Postcode Lottery winner knows just what she wants to buy. Her current car broke down two weeks ago has been on the lookout for a new car. Her current one broke down two weeks ago, now she can buy a new one.

Andrea Boyle was also a big winner. Her spending plans include helping her four children. One is taking driving lessons and the other is keen to buy a flat. “They’re full of demands,” joked the 42-year-old.

Paul Burnett also won the largest share of the People’s Postcode Lottery win. The joiner couldn’t wait to tell his mother the good news. She’d jetted off to Lanzarote for a holiday so will get a big surprise when getting off the plane.
