Winning lottery ticket almost flew out of the car window
An Oregon man nearly lost his new found fortune as his winning lottery ticket nearly blew away.Jose Martinez purchased several Mega Millions tickets but had left them in the sun visor of his car. He was out of town on business when his wife borrowed the vehicle. While driving she pulled down the visor and the ticket nearly flew out of the window.
Winning lottery ticket almost gone with the wind
After Martinez returned from business his wife insisted he scan the tickets. He used the Lottery’s app and the first one he scanned was the $1m winner.“I really like the app now,” he exclaimed. He continued to scan it three times and then again on his wife’s phone to confirm the result.Martinez, who lives in Beaverton, Oregon, regularly stops by the S&S Market on his way to work. Here he buys his Lottery tickets and stores them in his sun visor. By not checking them immediately he nearly lost his massive win. After taxes, the couple will take home $680,000. Their first plan is to pay off their house before anything else. The ticket was purchased May 14 for Mega Millions. It matched five of the main six numbers to take the $1m prize. Those numbers were 11-59-66-67-68, and only missed out on the jackpot by failing to match the Mega Ball 18.
The owner of the S&S Market will also receive a bonus. They will end up with 1 percent of the winning amount. Store Owner Boby Singh stated that they’d never sold a winning ticket before.
