Windermere Connection Leads to £181,818 Postcode Lottery Win
A couple from Hyde in Greater Manchester, England, are celebrating a £181,818 Postcode Lottery win. However, they believe that Windermere has played a huge part in their success.
Eight players won a 90,909 Postcode Lottery prize but the couple had bought two tickets, doubling their win.
Why Windermere?
Just how does Windermere play a part in their windfall when it’s 100 miles from Hyde? Georgina met her husband Jim at the Windermere Hotel where she used to work. Since marrying, they’ve lived in Windermere Road. Several streets in Hyde are named after locations in the Lake District of England. No wonder her husband joked: “We can't get away from the place!"
The couple have been married for 46 years and have two children and four grandchildren. Plans for their Postcode Lottery win include buying them presents That will include “fancy football boots” for one grandson who plays for Hyde FC’s Under 9’s. A holiday overseas is also planned now that they can afford to renew their passports.
Georgina discovered her Postcode Lottery win last week but wasn’t told how much they’d won. When told it would be Jason Donovan who would present the cheque she decided to put some masarara on. However, plenty of tears have flowed since learning of her win, so she didn’t want him to see her with mascara running down her face.
Anyone fancy some bacon butties?
Winning a £90,909 Postcode Lottery prize was single mother Alana. With her win she wants to set up a street food business selling pies, bacon butties and sandwiches. It might even be called JD’s after Jason Donovan.
The lucky player also looks after rescue dogs and has three at present. Taking them out for long walks every day helps Alana as she has relapsing remitting MS. Some of her winnings will be spent on a doggy day-care and landscaping her garden.
The generous Postcode Lottery winner also wants to help a neighbour buy some materials for a communal garden that they’ve created.
