Wedding on the Cards for $10.6m Australian Powerball Winner
A man from Somerton Park in South Australia won a $10.6 million jackpot in the March 23 Australian Powerball draw. It could be good news for his other half as their wedding may take place soon.
The lucky winner joked that now he's a multi-millionaire, “I can now finally afford to get married.” He was the only winner of the Australian Powerball jackpot and won $10,626,529.30.
His winning ticket was not registered so the lottery organisers had no idea who had landed the jackpot. It turned out to be this man from South Australia and it’s the second jackpot success for the state this year.
Hang on!
He spoke to the lottery the morning after discovering his Australian Powerball jackpot win. “I looked at my phone last night, and I thought ‘Hang on! That looks different!’” He quickly rushed to his computer to have another look at his ticket and he really had won the jackpot.
How does he feel about his amazing win? “I feel bizarre!” was his reply. It’s a win that might not have happened though. He sometimes plays his favourite numbers but not always. On this occasion he did and they won him the $10.6 million Australian Powerball jackpot.
No flash holidays
In addition to planning a wedding, the lucky player says he wants to carry out plenty of refurbishments. “No flash holidays or anything like that,” he joked.
His winning ticket was purchased from Kylie Brown’s Newsagency. He’s been buying tickets from there for over six years. “I’m happy knowing I picked up a division one winning entry from them,” said the Australian Powerball winner.
Kylie Brown is also delighted with the news. He says the win has caused a significant buzz in the community. The store owner added that “we’re stoked to have sold a division one winning entry worth $10 million to a regular customer.”
It must be a lucky place to buy lottery tickets. Only a few weeks prior to this success, a $450,000 Spot 9 Keno ticket had been sold by them.
