Unforgettable Day Off for £250,000 Scratchcard Winner

April 22 was a day Luke Ashman from Dudley in England, will never forget. He won a £250,000 scratchcard prize, then went on a first date.

The 21-year-old works as a loss prevention officer at TK Maxx. He’s also in his final year of studying for a criminology degree at the University of Worcester.

His big win came on the National Lottery’s Multiplier Orange scratchcard. He had a day off from work but could never have imagined what an amazing one lay ahead of him.

It didn’t get off to an exciting start though. He was due to go shopping but fell asleep on his sofa. Finally waking up, he headed for the supermarket to get some groceries. He also bought a couple of scratchcards.

How Much?

Luke waited to get back to his car before checking his scratchcards. The first wasn’t a winner but the other most certainly did. It said he’d won £250,000 but he “wasn’t sure whether it was a full stop or a comma.” He double checked and realized how much he’d won. “My heart was thumping, and I literally began to shake,” recalled the lucky scratchcard winner.

The 21-year-old made his way home where his mother had been concerned about where he was. Her worry soon turned to joy as her son told him his fantastic news. His three brothers and father were then informed.

Now for the Date

That was just the first part of his exciting day. Later on, he had his first proper date with a girl he’d recently started seeing. With some lockdown restrictions lifted, he could now take her out for a meal.

It’s a good start to a date when you can mention a £250,000 scratchcard win. His girlfriend didn’t initially believe him, so he showed her his winning scratchcard. Their first date turned into a fantastic celebration. “You could say I had won twice in one day,” said a delighted Luke.

He plans on buying a Ford Mustang car with his winnings. The rest will be used to set up a property development business.
