Four Unclaimed Lottery Tickets worth $1m still up for grabs in Quebec

The wait continues for the holders of several winning unclaimed lottery tickets sold in Quebec, Canada, to come forward. Two of them are both worth $1m but have remained unclaimed since last June.

It’s been revealed that there are four $1m prize winning tickets that remain unclaimed. The longest wait for a winner to come forward is two $500,000 Lotto Max winning tickets sold in the June 1, 2018 draw.September 12 saw a Lotto 6/49 ticket sold in Brome-Missisquoi MRC that won a $1m Lotto 6/49 draw. Later that month a lucky ticket sold in Longueuil won $1m in the September 28 Lotto Max draw.Another ticket sold in Terrebonne landed a $1m prize in the October 26 Lotto Max draw but also remains unclaimed. The following month another million-dollar winning ticket for the Quebec 49 lottery was sold in Gatineau.The lucky winners aren’t in danger of losing their lottery windfalls just yet. They have 12 months in which to claim their winnings, but do they actually know they’ve won? That’s the view of Loto-Quebec’s Brian Lecompte.

Do They Know They’ve Won?

He commented: “People haven’t claimed their prizes because they don’t know they’ve won.” Mr Lecompte recalled how only last August a $1.7m win was claimed eight months after it became a winner. That case saw the winning ticket stashed away in a coat that was checked before being given to a charity shop.In the UK, Andrew Clark from Boston took six weeks before he discovered he’d won a £76m EuroMillions prize. The winning ticket had been stored away in his van.If the prizes go unclaimed and expire, the money is sent back to the winnings pool. Lecompte doesn’t want that to happen as another state might benefit. “If it was won in Quebec, we want it to be claimed in Quebec,” he said.
