UNCLAIMED £1M EUROMILLIONS TICKET JUST DAYS FROM EXPIRING
The holder of a £1m EuroMillions winning ticket has just days to claim their prize before it is due to expire. Already this week a ticket worth £72,422 has gone unclaimed. The £1m ticket was purchased in North Tyneside, England, and matched the Millionaire Maker Code FPY442445 in the March 13 draw.Lottery millionaires Kim and Ian McCarthy from Darlington, who won a £1m EuroMillions prize in December 2012, have urged players to double-check their EuroMillions tickets. Kim said, "It’s very exciting to think that someone out there is sitting on a life-changing amount of money. I can still remember the moment we won, we couldn’t believe it, it was the best Christmas present anyone could have asked for. To think that someone out there is about to go through the same experience is amazing. There’s only a few days left to claim, so I do hope they come forward!”Sometimes it does take a while for players to come forward and claim their winnings. Sheila Cleasby from Edmonton, Canada, took three months to claim a $1m Lotto 6-49 win. Perhaps the winner hasn't even checked their ticket yet. It took 'Bubba's Crew' in Connecticut, USA,two weeks before they even checked their $1m Powerball winning ticket. Anthony Perosi from Staten Island in New York put a $136m Powerball ticket behind a pipe and didn't check it for six weeks. If the ticket isn't claimed by September 9 then it will suffer the same fate as a EuroMillions ticket sold in Shepway in Kent, England. The ticket won £72,422 in the draw held on March 6 but no one has come forward to claim it. A National Lottery spokesman said: "We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it's a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner - the nation." That's because the winnings plus the interest earned will now go towards helping National Lottery-funded projects.Earlier this year a £1m winning EuroMillions ticket sold in Liverpool, England, went unclaimed. Last September in the States a $1m Powerball ticket sold in California suffered the same fate.Purchase your lottery tickets online at Lottery24.com and you will not miss any win.
