Wednesday November 21 sees the UK Lotto changes spin into effect. These new rules will produce higher jackpots, less rollovers and at least £1m for matching five main balls and the Bonus Ball.
The UK Lotto changes comes after a fall in sales. An in-depth review was held by the and they came to the opinion that previous changes made in 2015 were to blame. Camelot chief executive Nigel Railton said that the reviewrevealed that there’s a need to “create a more appealing and balanced range of games that offers something for everyone.”
Not so Bad Being a Runner-Up
On November 17 three tickets each won £25,318 for matching five of the main balls and the Bonus Ball. From Wednesday, the runner-up prize will see each player winning a guaranteed £1m. There are also increases in other prize tiers. Matching five of the main balls will now produce a win of £1750, up from the present estimated £1000. Four numbers matched will see a win of £1400 (up from an estimated £1000) and matching three of the main balls goes up from £25 to £30. The additional funds come from the scrapping of the UK Lotto Millionaire raffle.
Number of Rollovers Cut
Another major UK Lotto change comes in how many rollovers are allowed. At present ten are allowed but this will fall to five under the new rules. That will be followed by a ‘Must-Be-Won’ draw. The jackpot level remains the same but must be won on the next draw. If no one matches all 6 numbers then the jackpot will be split with all tiers below this. This is common in other lottery draws such as the EuroJackpot draw. The changes are the latest to be made after a previous revamp saw the number of main balls increased from 49 to 59 just three years ago.Buy your UK Lotto Ticket online at Lottery24
