Two-year-old Christmas scratchcard Wins $100,000

Do you open every one of your Christmas presents? A man from Nelson Bay in New South Wales in Australia waiting two years to check a scratchcard and it won him $100,000.

It was a couple of years ago that he was given a Warm Wishes scratchcard as a Christmas present. It was only recently that he discovered it in an old gift bag in his linen closet. You can imagine his surprise when finding out It was worth $100,000.

The winner (who has asked to remain anonymous) explained how the scratchcard was found. They ran out of Christmas wrapping paper, so his wife went to the linen closet. Little did she realise that there was a scratchcard in there.

Amazing Discovery

“We had no idea we even had it until then,” said the scratchcard winner. It wasn’t until he was eating his breakfast that his wife decided to see if the scratchcard was a winner or not.

“She screamed, ‘Oh my god, no way! We’ve won $100,000!’. I instantly looked at her and said, ‘No, get off it. That can’t be right,” said the surprised husband. A second look at the scratchcard confirmed that they had won $100,000.

The husband still finds it hard to believe that the scratchcard was in the linen closet. “We’ve walked past that closet so many times, and we’ve cleaned it and had no idea there was $100,000 in it this whole time.”

Who gave them the scratchcard?

One big question remains unanswered, namely who gave them the scratchcard? “We have no idea who gifted it to us, so we can’t thank them, sadly.” It has given the couple an idea for this year’s Christmas presents.

Their friends and relatives will each have a scratchcard inside their Christmas cards. “Hopefully, they have a big win, too,” said the scratchcard winner.

The celebrations have already started with some Canadian Club and champagne flutes. Spending plans include getting aircon in their house in time for Christmas.A new car and maybe a holiday are also possible thanks to their unexpected scratchcard win.
