Two Tickets Share $126.6m Australian Powerball Jackpot
The Australian Powerball draw held on Thursday February 24 had a $126.6 million jackpot. Two very lucky tickets shared the top prize, one sold in New South Wales and the other in Western Australia. Both have already claimed their winnings.
The New South Wales winner is a rather fortunate man from Coffs Harbour. In all, the delighted player won a $63,309,056.98 Australian Powerball prize. His ticket hadn’t been registered, so the lottery company couldn’t call him with the amazing news.
However, he had already checked his Australian Powerball ticket and just could not believe that he had won a division one prize. In fact, he’d spent the morning watching the news and hearing that a ticket sold in Coffs Harbour was one of the jackpot winners. “I’m sitting here thinking, ‘I can’t believe that winner is me!” he laughed.
He’s asked to remain anonymous, but we do know he’s a middle-aged man with children. His reaction to the Australian Powerball win was understandable. “Oh mate! It’s unbelievable!” said the jubilant winner. He added: “It’s like a dream come true. I just never thought I’d win like this.”
A new sports car
The Australian Powerball winner has already started to draw up his wish list. A red sports car is going to be purchased as well as a new house and a few holidays. He also wants to use his windfall to look after his family.
Now he’s looking forward to a weekend of celebrations with his family. Despite being a multi-millionaire he still went to work that day.
The winning numbers in the February 24 Australian Powerball draw were: 06-09-15-27-28-32-33. His winning Australian Powerball ticket was purchased from Coffs News Shop in Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour.
Syndicate success
The other Australian Powerball jackpot winners are the ‘Goldfields’ syndicate from Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia. There are 250 members of the syndicate so each will receive $253,236. One of the winners is Kira who said: “There'll be a lot of happy people around the town this morning, for sure."
