Triple Joy for £685,713 Postcode Lottery Winner
People of all ages can win a big lottery prize. Bernard from Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset, England proves that. He’s just won a £685,713 Postcode Lottery windfall.
Proud family
The World War II Marine received his Postcode Lottery cheque in front of three generations of his proud family. The lucky player was delighted when handed one envelope containing a cheque for £228,571.
However, he’d bought three tickets so two more envelopes were given to him taking his winnings to £685,713.
“I never thought I’d win. I just hoped,” said the delighted winner. He intends on helping his family with some of his Postcode Lottery winnings. His daughter will be helped most as she has been looking after him since his wife sadly passed away. Several of his family members were already celebrating after winning £1,334.
Emotional win
Also celebrating a big Postcode Lottery prize is Shirley who lives across the road from Bernard. The emotional winner of £228,571 said she owed her win to her husband who died four years ago.
He was a big fan of the lottery and when he died, his widow decided to change the tickets over to her name. “It seems as if he's looking down on me and looking after his sons and grandchildren,” said Shirley.
Her two children and six grandchildren will all be treated. The dinner lady also plans on buying doughnuts for the staff at the school where she works.
Dreams really do come true
Former lorry driver Peter also won £228,571. He joked that his wife Joyce £571 and “I’ll decide what to do with the rest. Trips to Ohio, USA and New Zealand are being planned so they can visit relatives. As the Postcode Lottery winner says: “Dreams really do come true.”
Also booking a foreign trip are John and his wife Alison who won £228,571. They plan on going on a Nordic cruise. Their three children and seven grandchildren will all be treated too with some investments also being made. His wife said of their win: “It means everything - great happiness.”
