Trip to Canada for £396,694 Postcode Lottery Winner
Terry from Mitcham in Southwest London, England, is celebrating a £396,694 Postcode Lottery win. Some of her winnings from the May 27 draw will be used to visit relatives in Canada for the first time.
Terry began playing the Postcode Lottery five years ago. Now that her big win has arrived the lucky player admits to feeling “disbelief” at her success.
Terry’s win means her working days are over. The former nurse had left the NHS two years ago but had done some work for them since then. 43 years had been spent working in the profession. Now her retirement will be a total one thanks to this win.
Plans for her windfall include renovating her flat. “I’m just about to get a brand-new kitchen and I've been packing everything up. I can't move for boxes,” joked the Postcode Lottery winner.
Off to Canada
A trip to Canada to see some relatives that she’s never met is also planned. The lucky winner also wants to help her sister, niece and nephew. Her younger sister Janet lives in the flat below Terry’s. The Postcode Lottery win came as a surprise for her as she didn’t know her sister bought tickets for the draw. At first she believed the win was only around £10,000.
More important than a rug
When the presenter came to give Terry her cheque, Janet thought it was someone for her. A new rug had been ordered but this was a far more important visitor. Janet doesn’t play the Postcode Lottery but wishes she’d signed up and will do so from now.
Another of her neighbours won the same amount. There were 331 other players who won in this draw. They all won at least £546 with some winning as much as £1,638. How much they received depends on how many Postcode Lottery tickets had been purchased.
Their success came in the new Millionaire Street draw. Present Jeff Brazier commented: “The sun was shining on the gold envelope when I presented it to Terry.”
