Trio of Lottery Players Celebrate Big Wins
Three lottery players are celebrating big wins. One win was long-overdue, another achieved by a new routine and the other has delighted the wife of the winner.
Over the moon
For 20 years, a man from Queensland in Australia has been playing the same numbers. Now he’s won a $1 million Weekday Windfall prize.
“It’s just a little tradition I like to do,” said the delighted winner. He had yet to tell his wife the news of his August 7 win but predicted: “She’ll be over the moon.”
Now he plans on using his lottery winnings to “enjoy life to the fullest” including some holidays. No wonder he said: “I’m really glad I kept playing.”
Change of routine
While he didn’t change his numbers, a woman from Maryland, USA, went to a different store to make her purchase and won $50,000.
The Parkville resident usually buys scratchcards or the Bonus Match 5 lottery and only from certain stores. However, that all changed when going to a different store. Some scratchcards were bought and then she realised there was $2 still in her purse.
That was used to buy a Bonus Match 5 lottery ticket and it won $50,000 in the August 3 draw. “It really came down to those two split-second decisions. It's crazy," said the lottery winner.
Her winnings will be used to pay her bills. After that, well she’s not quite sure yet. The lottery winner joked; “Something fun will pop into my head, I'm sure.”
Promise kept
Also celebrating is Terrell Bethea from North Carolina, USA. He won a $1.1 million Cash 5 lottery prize on August 5 just days before his 36th birthday.
Years ago, he promised his wife that one day he’ll purchase her dream home. After this big lottery win that dream will now come true. A $4.8 million Set for Life winner also kept their promise.
It’s not surprising that his wife became very emotional when being told the news. “She fell to her knees and broke down crying,” recalled the lottery winner.
