Travel Plans Galore for Scratch Card Winners
It’s been a busy pandemic for dinner lady Sue Rees from Wales. Now she and her son Connor are celebrating too after winning the top prize on the £100,000 A Month For A Year National Lottery scratch card.
During the pandemic, the lucky scratch card player has been making packed lunches for children entitled to receive free school meals. The 48-year-old and her son, 24, have a tradition when they go shopping. Every trip sees them buy two scratch cards. They have an agreement that any winnings are shared between them.
That proved to be great news for both of them when winning this prize. It was all a bit of a shock as you can imagine. That’s despite the fact Sue had always said one day a big win would come along. Not that her son believed her.
In Disbelief
That all changed when their scratch card won the top prize. Conor recalled the moment when they became winners. “We took the scratch card straight back into the shop and the shopkeeper confirmed we’d won big, we just couldn’t believe it. I still can’t really.”
No plans to quit work
Sue runs the breakfast club at a local primary school, where she has worked for 17 years. Despite her win, she has no plans to quit that important job. “I love that school, I couldn’t leave. I’m going to make sure that my family is well looked after but I’m definitely going to keep my feet firmly on the ground,” said the scratch card winner.
To Fly or Not to Fly
A trip to Disneyland Paris is planned next year. She won’t be going by plane though as the Welsh woman is terrified of flying. Sue and her extended family will go to France by train instead.
Conor works in a warehouse with his father. He currently lives with his parents but when getting his own place, he wants to buy some new pets but not the usual kind. Instead of dogs and cats, he wants a bearded lizard and chameleon and “can’t wait” go buy them. He also wants to take his father to New Zealand (stopping off at Hawaii on the way) where they have cousins.
