Tickets Bought on a Whim Win Big Lottery Prizes

Some lottery ticket purchases aren’t planned. For a man from Dublin in Ireland, he was delaying his driving home after a busy day at work and it led to a big win.

He didn’t want to get home too early, joking that “I’d only be lumped with more jobs!” Therefore he decided on a whim to buy a scratchcard but not the one he usually buys. Instead, he purchased a Mega Money Multiplier scratchcard and it won him €250,000.

Minutes later the staff of the Circle K petrol station in Kilnamanagh were taking photos of him as the celebrations started.

Spur-of-the-moment

It was a similar situation for a man from South Carolina, USA. He had no intention of buying a scratchcard until being given $10 change when out shopping. His “spur-of-the-moment” decision was to buy a Multiplier Surge scratchcard and it landed him a $300,000 win.

“No way” was his reaction when discovering his big scratchcard win. He’s in no hurry to spend his windfall and said: “I’m going to leave it in the bank.”

What’s happening?

John Hamilton from Hamilton from Ontario in Canada was puzzled when a lottery machine shut down. The 72-year-old didn’t know what was happening but then discovered that his Lotto Max ticket had won £332,634.80 in the May 19 draw.

The father of two now wants to use his lottery winnings to help his family. He also plans on going on a cruise with his wife with Iceland and Scandinavia the likely destinations. “It feels really nice to have this added comfort,” said the lucky winner.

Who won $70m?

Meanwhile a $70 million Lotto Max jackpot win from last year still hasn’t been claimed yet. The big lottery win came in the June 28, 2022 draw and there is less than a month to go before it expires.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) are asking players “to check places where they usually store their tickets.” That could be anywhere from kitchen drawers to wallets or the glove compartment in a car.
