71-year-old Geordie Rhodick from Lochgilphead in Scotland threw his May 29 EuroMillions ticket in the bin after his numbers failed to produce a win. His quick thinking wife, Betty, rescued the ticket just like Peter Kemp whose $1m Powerball ticket was accidentally torn up, and discovered they had won £1m in the Millionaire Maker Raffle.Mrs Rhodick, 63, says she has "honestly no idea" why she rescued the EuroMillions ticket and took it to the local RS McColls store where her husband had purchased it. She was told by the assistant that it was a substantial winner and couldn't be paid out there and then. The store manager then checked it, began to shake and told her she needed to have a seat.The couple are the latest big winners from Scotland after we reported on a series of recent big lottery wins in Bo'Ness. The EuroMillions winner joked that his win won't change him and he'll still be a "crabbit old git."Family means a great deal to the couple and just as lottery winner Frederick McClendon did after his big win, the couple plan on using their EuroMillions winnings to help their loved ones. Each of their six children will receive £25,000. That's not all though, the couple plan on buying a new home and will put it in the names of their grandchildren, so when they die, they'll be able to sell it and share the proceeds.
