“Thanks Dad” says $5 million Lotto 6/49 Winner
For over 30 years, Murray and Darlene Timmins from Didsbury in Alberta, Canada have played the same lottery numbers. The faith they had in their selection has paid off with a $5 million Canadian Lotto 6/49 win.
Their long-awaited success came in the June 26 Lotto 6/49 draw. It was back in the late 1980s that they first started using the numbers 02-07-10-23-25-29.
Those numbers have an even longer history though. Speaking about their Lotto 6/49 win, a delighted Darlene said that her late father had also used those numbers. No wonder when finding out about their win, she said: “Thanks, Dad.”
This year an Australian used the same numbers for two years and won a $4.8 million Set for Life prize.
The couple from Alberta hadn’t seen the Lotto 6/49 draw live. Her husband explained how his wife checks the results while having her coffee the morning after a draw. Murray said he wasn’t even up when his wife made the amazing discovery.
Look, look
It was hard for her to believe what she was seeing. “I think we won! Look, look!” she shouted to her husband. He finally got up but was only expecting the win to be “a free play or something.”
How will they spend their Lotto 6/49 win? Darlene joked: “ My husband doesn’t need to work anymore. Now he can stay home and look after me.” Not all the time though as a trip to Montreal is planned to see the mother who he hasn’t seen in 20 years.
Also winning was Paul Bidault from Quebec who had just turned 40. He won a $5 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot in the July 20 draw. His win came from a ticket that had been purchased online.
Some winners instantly tell others of their great fortune. Not this one though as he admits to “waiting several days” before even his wife was told they were millionaires. Early retirement and travelling are his plans for the future.
