A taxi driver from Scotland has swapped his old cab out for a top of the range Audi after he won £1 million on the EuroMillions lottery.Arthur Howard, 74, who is from East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, won his prize on the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle at the end of January, in the Mega Friday event which also saw them win an all-expenses paid trip to Dubai. Yesterday, we told you about a hero taxi driver from Sheffield who stopped a pensioner from falling victim to a lottery scam, and today Mr Howard and his wife Emma plan to use their trip to spend their 57th wedding anniversary in November celebrating in style, but in the meantime they do have plenty of other ideas for how they will spend their EuroMillions money, just like cab driver Gary Brand from Essex did when he scooped a UK Lotto win in 1996, and he has since bought his partner’s share of their taxi company.First of all, Mr Howard said that he didn’t even think twice about giving up his job, and despite the fact that he insisted he loves his work, his colleagues and his customers, he said “I was getting too old,” and said that he was sure he’d keep in touch with his mates. He’s one of a long line of cabbie winners, including Malcolm Dennet from Dorset who won £111,000 after accidentally buying a EuroMillions ticket, and Murray McKenzie from Cambridge who won £215,000 on the same lottery game. And the couple said that they won’t be moving house, but they will make changes to their current home, including building an extension for their children and grandchildren to stay in.The EuroMillions winner said that he used the change left over in his taxi to purchase his lottery ticket for the drawing on January 29th, and he also said that when he realised he had won he had to call the National Lottery claim line twice before he could quite believe it. According to Mr Howard, the first time he called he told the call handler that he needed to hang up and call her back later because he was in shock.However, things are starting to seem a little more real for the Scottish couple now, as they are due to collect their brand new Audi from the retailer on Friday. “It’s a life-changing sum for a lot of people.
