Syndicate Wins Share of $126.6m Australian Powerball Jackpot

A 250-strong syndicate from Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia won $63.3 million in the February 24 Australian Powerball draw. Also, winning the same amount in the draw was a man from Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.

Considering the name of the name of the syndicate, we can guess what some of their Australian Powerball winnings will be used for. It’s called ‘Goldfields, let’s pay our mortgages.’ Each of the syndicate members will receive just over $250,000.

Kira is one of the winners and the bank worker had a double slice of luck. She’s also in another syndicate and that won her a further $2,000 in the Australian Powerball draw.

Surreal experience

Nardia was another of the syndicate members and said the win was “surreal.” The Australian Powerball winner added that the success was “just wonderful for the town” and will change a lot of people’s lives.

News of the win came when Nardia was visiting her son and daughter-in-law. It was already a special day as she was celebrating her granddaughters first birthday. Nardia never checks her tickets so needed some help to confirm her win. “I looked at the last line and was like, ‘oh my God,” she recalled.

Bringing joy to everybody

Although none of the syndicate members have become millionaires, Nardia believes people “were more excited that they didn’t win the whole amount” as it “brings joy to everybody.” After a tough time in the past couple of years, she believes there will be “so many feelgood stories” to be told.

The Australian Powerball win adds to an exciting time for Jane. This week sees her receiving a visit from her daughter. That hasn’t happened since the pandemic began and finally, she’ll get to see her two grandchildren. A big celebratory dinner is now being planned.

The other half of the Australian Powerball jackpot was won by a middle-aged family man in Coffs Harbour. He’s already planning to use his winnings to buy a red sports car, new house, go on holiday and help family members.
