Strolling Cat Leads to $6m CanadianLotto 6/49 Jackpot
A group of players from Montreal are celebrating winning a £6 million Canadian Lotto 6/49 win. It might not have happened though if they hadn’t been helped by a cat.
It’s one of the stranger stories that we’ve covered this year at Lottery24 but totally true. Emile Cyr was at home working on his computer. He had to do that due to the ongoing pandemic meaning he couldn’t go into the office. All of a sudden, some feline company appeared.
Time for a stroll
His cat was suddenly taking a stroll across his computer keyboard. Whether it was after the mouse we don’t know. Anyway, the adorable cat was looking for some company, though Emile probably just wanted to get on with his work.
Taking a few minute off his paid work, Emile was trying to get the last spot in a CanadianLotto 6/49 online group for the draw held on July 17. However, he disturbed by his cat doing “a little dance on his keyboard.” The disturbance led to him missing out on that final spot and it proved to be a life-changing moment for him.
An appropriate name
He was determined to be part of the upcoming CanadianLotto 6/49 draw, so he made a major decision. Rather than trying to join someone else’s group, he decided to form his own. Now coming up with a name for a group can often take longer than choosing your numbers. Emile decided to call his CanadianLotto 6/49 group ‘The Flying Wallenda’ in honour of his playful cat.
Amazingly, the group managed to be successful in the July 17 draw. They won the $6 million CanadianLotto 6/49 jackpot after successfully matching: 22-24-28-35-37-45. The other members of ‘The Flying Wallenda’ group were Pierre Grisé in the Montérégie, Richard Lafortune in the Laurentians and Hrak Majarian in Laval.
No doubt all of those players will be rather keen on paying Emile a visit and giving a few treats to the cat that helped win them their CanadianLotto 6/49 jackpot.
