Stateside Lottery Wins and a Rescued Kitten
We have three US lottery stories for you today. They all contain a slice of luck and also a heart-warming story about a kitten.
First time lucky
The first time Michael Eaves played the Cash 5 lottery game, he won the jackpot. The lucky player from North Carolina won $331,792
The results were checked the following morning and eventually realised he’d won the jackpot. After taxes he received $236,404. He plans to pay off some bills and make some home renovations. The lottery winner also plans to make some charitable donations.
Upset friend
In Missouri, a $50,000 win caused some problems between the winner and his friend. Earlier in the week he’d bought some lottery tickets and one was for his best mate.
Riches for a rescuer
While the Missouri winner didn’t help his friend, Joseph Waldherr from Tacoma,Washington did do a good deed. He rescued a kitten and later that day bought a $717,500 winning Hit 5 lottery ticket.
On July 31, he discovered a kitten that was trapped in a tight space. The rescue was made and he put the kitten in his sweatshirt pocket where it enjoyed a lovely snooze. Later that day Waldherr bought his lottery ticket but then promptly forgot about it.
The postal worker finally remembered a few days later when out shopping with his wife. The scanner kept saying “see lottery office.’ A quick check online revealed a jackpot win. The couple want to put their winnings towards their retirement. As for the kitten, they’ve decided to keep it and because of the colour of its cheeks have named it ‘Peaches.’
