Spanish ticket wins €143 million EuroMillions Jackpot
A lucky ticket sold in Leon in Northwest Spain won the €143 million EuroMillions jackpot on Tuesday. The December 7 draw was the first held since last Friday’s Superdraw ended in a rollover.
The EuroMillions jackpot winner is yet to come forward to claim their fantastic prize. They have three months to claim their winnings but may want to do so in time for some extra Christmas spending.
The numbers drawn in the December 7 EuroMillions draw were: 22-31-38-46-47 and the two Lucky Stars 07 and 11. Looking at that selection, whoever has won the jackpot doesn’t use birthdays or anniversaries when choosing their numbers.
There were two tickets that were just a Lucky Number away from winning the jackpot. One was sold in the United Kingdom and won its owner(s) £298,841.90. The other second-tier winning ticket was another purchased in Spain and won €418,527.23.
Fifth largest win of 2021
This €143 million success is the fifth largest EuroMillions win of 2021. It’s been an amazing year to play this lottery with the record win broken on two occasions. October saw a record €220 million won by a ticket sold in French Polynesia. The record had already been broken once this year. A ticket sold in Switzerland won CHF 230.2 million in the draw held on Friday February 26.
Great year for Spain
Spain has now seen 113 tickets win a EuroMillions jackpot. That puts them just one behind the United Kingdom and France who have both sold 114. It was the first Spanish EuroMillions jackpot win since September when a ticket holder won €26.5 million.
It’s been a successful year for Spanish players with seven jackpot wins, including a run of three in 11 days in July. It’s the second six-figure win of the year for a ticket sold in Spain. The other was in August when a €113.1 million success was recorded.
Could there be another win for Spain before the year ends? The next EuroMillions draw is on Friday with a €17 million (£14 million) jackpot.
