Sleepless Night for $1m Winning NZ Lotto Couple

Would you be able to get to sleep after winning a big lottery prize? It’s certainly not easy to do that. A retired couple from Taranaki in New Zealand couldn’t after winning $1 million in the April 15 NZ Lotto draw.

The couple have asked to remain anonymous but have spoken to NZ Lotto officials about their success. There was a great deal of excitement as the female half of the couple explained.

It was a team effort as they watched the NZ Lotto draw take place. “My husband was sitting in front of the TV while I was at the table behind him. He wrote the numbers down excitedly before checking them against his ticket,” said the lucky winner. He’s used to doing that as the couple are regular lottery players.

So funny watching him

As they edged closer to their big win, her husband kept saying “Oh, another one! And another one!”  He was in disbelief but his wife joked that “it was so funny watching him.” After she double-checked the result, they had indeed won a $1 million NZ Lotto prize.

Then came the difficult job of coming to terms with their success. “We were up until the early hours. We didn’t get much sleep – but we weren’t complaining,” said the delighted NZ Lotto player.

The tired couple then had the task of going to the Impulse Snack & Lotto store to get their ticket checked again. It proved to be a very joyous occasion. “The store person was blown away when we came in. They were so happy for us,” commented the excited winner.

Freedom

Now that their win has been confirmed, there’s the decision to be made on how to use their NZ Lotto winnings. .”

It didn’t take them long to realise that they would now be able to pay off their mortgage. That’s something which will instantly see their monthly expenditure reduced.

Their win has been described as a “lovely feeling” and they now have “the freedom to do what we want”.
