Sigh of Relief after €500,000 EuroMillions Win Confirmed
Winning a lottery prize is always fantastic news. That’s how a syndicate leader from Cork in Ireland felt after a €500,000 EuroMillions win. Then he had the task of spreading the news and keeping the ticket safe.
The big win came in the EuroMillions draw held on June 25. He didn’t see the draw live so went to bed that night not knowing their ticket had won €500,000.
Shock
It was the following day that their ticket was checked. The shocked player admits that he “couldn’t really believe” what he was seeing on his phone.
After discovering the EuroMillions win, his responsibilities as syndicate leader began. Firstly, he had to let the other members know of their success.
He started sending out texts to them with the great news. However, they all seemed to be thinking that he was “having them on.”
Eventually they checked the winning numbers themselves and realised that they really had won €500,000.
Sigh of relief
It wasn’t until the following Monday that the syndicate leader phoned the Claims Department. Even he had a few doubts and said he could “finally breathe a sigh of relief” when the EuroMillions win was confirmed.
The time between finding out about the win and claiming their winnings was “tough work.” He did his best to keep their winning ticket hidden and not worry too much about losing it.
Now he’s glad that worry is over but even more pleased to “see all those zeroes on our cheque.”
Another Irish lottery winner forgot their €100,000 winning ticket was in their handbag.
The June 25 EuroMillions draw also saw the jackpot being won. The top prize of €213.8 million was won by a ticket sold in Portugal. Whoever that winner was probably worried even more about keeping their winning ticket safe.
The jackpot was also won in the last draw. July 19 saw the €52 million top prize shared by tickets purchased in France and Portugal. Tonight’s EuroMillions draw has a £14 million (€17 million) jackpot.
