Shocks Aplenty for Aberdeen Postcode Lottery Winners

Residents of the Seaton area of Aberdeen, Scotland, are celebrating a £3.2m Postcode Lottery win. 125 players shared that amount with one of them winning a fantastic £733,648.

The presentation ceremony was a rather shocking one. The winners thought they had won £5,000 but it proved to be more than that amount.  83 year-old Alexander Hardingham was happy to win that amount but then saw other players receiving cheques for £13,000.

He thought to himself: “Well goodness me, that’s a lot of money - I’d be happy with that.” When it was his turn to go up on stage he was given a cheque for £27,000. However, he had two tickets that matched the full post code and he had actually won £733,648.

A morning of surprises

He described the awards ceremony as “like a morning of surprises and it’s not even Christmas yet.”  One purchase the Postcode Lottery winner does want to make is a guitar. He admits to being a “country dafty” and might even buy a horse, even though he can’t ride one.

Perhaps he’ll find love too. The Postcode Lottery winner joked that he might now have women lining up outside his door.

Another big winner was Tilly Adams. Her Postcode Lottery win was £366,824. While Alexander has only been playing for around a year and a half, Tilly has been trying to get a big win for 20 years.

Why play the Postcode Lottery?  In the past she has had cancer and wanted to play a lottery that helps support groups.

Helping the family

Receiving a phone call informing you of a big win is a bit of a shock. Tilly thought she was being scammed and put the phone down. No wonder she says “Never in a million years did I expect this to happen.” Her plans for the windfall include helping her two children. “As long as they are happy, I am happy,” said the delighted Postcode Lottery winner.
