Second $2m Scratchcard Win for Maryland Player

We’d all love to win a $2 million scratchcard jackpot. However, a 65-year-old man from Salisbury in Maryland, USA, has just achieved that for the second time but waited until just before its expiry date to claim his latest winnings.

The extremely lucky player was out running his morning errands. He ended up at the North Salisbury Exxon station to do his shopping, but he also purchased something else. That happened to be a couple of $2,000,000 Richer scratchcards.

His luck was in that day because the first of them won him a $100 prize. That put a smile on his face as he scratched off the second one. Then his luck went through the roof as the second scratchcard won him the $2 million top prize.

Long delay

He didn’t claim his winnings right away. Because of the pandemic, he decided to put the $2 million winning scratchcard in a safe and there it stayed for several months. "I was just a bit nervous," said the scratchcard winner.

"I worried that I could have a fire that would burn it up, that the ticket's expiration date might come up and even had just a bit of doubt that it was really real." In the end he did claim his $2 million prize, just days before it was due to expire.

Then he revealed that this wasn’t his first $2 million scratchcard prize. He’d had another one several years earlier. That big win was used by the utility worker to help him in retirement and go on holiday with his family. This latest $2 million win will finance some home improvements and pay for some more holidays.

Helpful advice

He’s obviously a lucky player, so what are his tips for others who dream of becoming a scratchcard millionaire?"Be realistic and make sure that when you play that you aren't just playing for the big jackpot. Play for enjoyment and as long as you enjoy what you are doing, win or lose, you've already won," he said.
