Scottish Success in People’s Postcode Lottery

There have been plenty of celebrations in Dornoch in Scotland.  10 players have won at least £30,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery Street Prize draw on October 16. Two players won £60,000 with one lucky resident landing a £90,000 prize.

Gobsmacked

One of the £60,000 winners was Donald who described his windfall as “surreal” and had left him “gobsmacked.” Donald volunteers with the Royal British Legion, while his wife Brenda is a retired florist.

Plans for their Postcode Lottery win include buying a campervan. Once that has been purchased, the couple then plan to use it “to go around Scotland.” As for the rest of their £60,000, Donald said with a big smile, “I’m sure there will be a little bit left over for Brenda to spend.”

Oh my goodness me

Healthcare support worker Sandra won a £30,000 Postcode Lottery prize. When seeing just how much she and her husband James has won, she said: “Oh my goodness me, that is absolutely fantastic!”

It’s a strange win for the couple as they don’t actually live in Dornoch. They moved away five years ago but still use their old postcode. Sandra had lived in Dornoch for 35 years and both of her children were born there.

That’s why when she was told it was possible to continue playing with the same postcode, that’s just what she decided to do. It’s led to what she calls a “life-changing” win.

Helping her son

Retired nurse Angela also won £30,000. She admitted to feeling “a bit overwhelmed” by her win. It was a success she never thought would happen. Her Postcode Lottery win will be used to help her family.

That includes her son who is looking to buy his own home. “He’s not much to put in it” said his mother, so some of her winnings will help him. Angela also plans to treat herself to a holiday.

Donald won a £30,000 Postcode Lottery prize and is looking at buying a motorhome. He also plans on helping his three grandchildren.
