Revamped  Mega Millions Draw Begins Tomorrow

Tomorrow night’s Mega Millions draw will be an historic one. The jackpot may only be $54 million but this will be the first draw under the new exciting changes that are being introduced.

The Mega Millions lottery is one of the most exciting in the world. Just last year there were two billion dollar jackpots won. The most recent being Rosemary Casarotti from California who won a $1.269 billion jackpot last December.

The changes that are being made are expected to produce even more in the future. So just how is Mega Millions being revamped?

Previously when a Mega Millions jackpot was won,the next  draw saw the top prize reset at $20 million. That was so after  a $1.13 billion Mega Millions top prize was scooped in March 2024.F rom tomorrow, the reset figure rises to $50 million.

Jackpot will increase faster

The plan is that the changes that are being introduced will see the jackpot increase faster in the future. Organisers have stated that the average jackpot win will be over $800 million, which is far higher than the current average of $450 million.

More chance of winning

The odds of winning a prize will rise from 1 in 24 to 1 in 23. This is because there will be one fewer Mega Ball from Tuesday’s draw. As a result, the odds of a player landing the jackpot will now be 1 in 290,472,336 from 1 in 302,575,350.

Joshua Johnson is the lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium. Commenting on the changes, he said that players had told them they wanted “bigger non-jackpot prizes.” Mr Johnson added: “That’s exactly what this new game delivers.”

There will be a slight rise in the price of playing.  However, when a win is achieved, the amount you receive back will always be higher than the cost of your ticket.

These are the first changes in the Mega Millions lottery since 2017. Over 1,200 new millionaires have been created since then and it looks as if more will be created in the future.
