Retirement at Last for $552 million Mega Millions Winner
A player from Illinois, USA known as ‘MEGA Millionaire’ has claimed the $552 million Mega Millions jackpot he won on June 4.
The delighted jackpot winner has made Mega Millions history with his win. His ticket was bought online and this is the largest ever Mega Millions jackpot success from an online purchase.
$2 or $5 perhaps?
He recalled the moment when his big win was discovered. While looking through his emails he saw one from the Illinois Lottery. It asked him to check his numbers as a prize had been won in the latest draw. “In the past, I’ve won $2 here or $5 there, so I assumed it would be similar,” he said. How wrong could he be!
The shock of his life was on its way. He checked his tickets and discovered he was the $552 million jackpot winner. He signed out of the app and then back in again so he could double-check the results. “It was real alright - but it still feels unreal!” said the Mega Millions winner.
Talking about his life before the Mega Millions win, the winner said that he was raised by a single mother. To pay the bills, pay for her children’s education and put food on the table, she had to have two jobs.
Happy tears
Since graduating from high school, the successful player said that he “started working and I haven’t stopped since.” He worked as a labourer and eventually was earning enough for his mother to retire. The Mega Millions winner is yet to tell her his amazing news. “When that time comes, we’re all going to be shedding some happy tears,” said the lucky player.
His win is the second-largest Mega Millions win by a ticket sold in Illinois. It’s a great win but way below the record Illinois win of $1.337 billion won in July 2022 on this lottery.
After all that hard work, the jackpot winner says he has “always dreamed of retiring early and enjoying life with my family.” Now he’s a multi-millionaire, he joked: “I think it’s safe to say my dreams just came true.”
