£250,000 Postcode Lottery WInner Hit for Six
Karen from Southport in England has won a £250,000 Postcode Lottery prize. The win is being shared with her partner Martin and he wants to go to Barbados to watch the T20 Cricket World Cup.
He is no stranger to the island having lived in Barbados for over two years while a child. Now the grandfather lives in Lancashire but still has fond memories of the West Indies. Being a West Indian, he’s a big cricket fan and has been hit for six by this fantastic win. In fact, you could say he’s been bowled over by the stunning news.
Business class please
Unlike previous trips home, he plans to travel in business class. He says that’s far better than being “cramped up in the back.”
He’s been together with Karen for 15 years and they share six children and ten grandchildren, all of whom will receive some help. Other plans for their Postcode Lottery winnings include buying a new home.
Talking about her Postcode Lottery win, Karen said: “Quarter of a million! It sounds better when you say it like that.” The lucky player used to be a pub landlady joked: “Oh my God, it wasn’t a fiver then!”
The win has come as a “bit of a shock” to Karen. “I'll have to go in, have a cup of tea and think about it. Maybe start making a few plans now. What would she do if winning tonight’s 195 million euros (£164 million) jackpot.
Many winners travel to Australia after their big win. That’s what Anita from Peterborough did after her £235,293 Postcode Lottery win. However, this lucky couple have just been there visiting Martin’s son who lives down under.
New bungalow
Also winning a £250,000 Postcode Lottery prize is cancer sufferer Maureen. The widow wants to get her leaky roof mended. Then she’ll be able to sell the property and move into a new bungalow.
That’ll really help her as she’s started to find climbing the stairs at her present home a bit difficult.
