£1,600 Lotto Hotpicks Win is Simply the Best

Kelly Firth from Halifax in Yorkshire, England, won £1,600 playing the Lotto Hotpicks draw. It was an emotional win for a couple of reasons.

The 44-year-old used to buy Lotto Hotpicks tickets for her mother until she passed away in May 2021. When cleaning her late mother’s flat, she found a card and on it were three numbers - 7, 17 and 37 - that used to be played every week.

Kelly decided that she should now begin using those numbers for the Lotto Hotpicks draw. Five numbers were needed for the draw and the other two were chosen randomly by the lottery machine.

There are two Lotto Hotpicks draws a week and the first she played was on a Wednesday. The numbers didn’t produce a win and the 44-year-old was torn into pieces and thrown away.

However, the Saturday draw saw her ticket win two £800 prizes. The celebrations began and amazingly when she switched the radio on, it played ‘Simply the Best’ which was her mother’s favourite song.

The search begins

Then panic set in as Kelly remembered what she’d done to the winning ticket. She admits that “my heart dropped” and a frantic search of the communal bins began. Luckily her black bin bag had only recently been taken away.

“I jumped in the big bin outside and pulled every black bin liner out and searched every one until I found the tickets which luckily still had the barcode intact,” said the relieved Lotto Hotpicks winner.

Her winning ticket was then taken to a local shop. Her luck was still as the assistant put it back together again. Kelly can’t believe that the ticket was a winner and believes it was “a sign from mum.”

Off to Blackpool

Some of her Lotto Hotpicks win has been used to go on holiday. Kelly took her two children and four grandsons to Blackpool. A great time was had and the lottery winner said her late mother would be delighted that the win has given the family so much joy.
