£1 million UK Lotto Winner Finally Achieves Her Dancing Dream
Terri Picton-Clark from Leicestershire, England thought she’d never dance at the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Then in 2021 she won a £1 million UK Lotto prize and has now achieved her dream and followed in the dance steps of her favourite Strictly Ballroom dancers.
The 72-year-old grandmother first started dancing ten years ago and in 2016 won an over-50 title but the following year saw her suffer a mini-stroke. That and the sheer cost of being a ballroom dancer made her feel her dancing days had come to an end.
“I never gave up hope”
A long recovery lay ahead of her but the grandmother said: “I never gave up hope” and always believed “that good things would come into my life.”
That certainly happened when a £1 million UK Lotto prize was won and it helped make her dreams come true.
Sadly last year it looked as if her dancing days were over. The grandmother underwent six hours open-heart surgery as she had a heart valve defect. It takes a lot to stop this brave woman though and just three months later, Terri was back on the dance floor.
Strictly fan
Not surprisingly, the 72-year-old UK Lotto winner is a big fan of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and each year they hold a show at the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom. “I wanted to be up there too but never believed it would actually happen.”
Then came an invite to dance there. A £2,000 dress was purchased for a day she says “will remain with me for the rest of my life.” The UK Lotto winner added: “I feel like I have won the lottery twice!”
Scottish £500,000 Thunderball winner Raymond Young went on holiday to Blackpool after his big win.
Terri says: “When it comes to ballroom dancing - it doesn’t get better than Blackpool.” One more dream remains for her and that’s dancing in Blackpool again at the age of 100. “What a centurion celebration that would be,” said the UK Lotto winner.
