Players in Hull Won £5m in People’s Postcode Lottery in 2021

2021 was a great year to play the People’s Postcode Lottery if you lived in Hull in the East Yorkshire area of England. Residents won a staggering £5 million during the year.

The People’s Postcode Lottery successes began as soon as January. That month saw a £3 million prize be shared by residents of the city.

One of the January winners was70-year-old Stephen. He described the win as “a dream come true.” His wife Trudie screamed her head off as he was presented with their prize.

“This is life-changing! I don’t mind being in lockdown with that in the bank,” he said. “We can sit at home wondering how to spend it,” he added. Those plans included wanting to go to Hawaii to celebrate their 25^th wedding anniversary. Above all though, their win gave them “something to look forward to.”

Dumbstruck

Also winning a £250,000 People’s Postcode Lottery prize was great-great grandfather Alan Stanley. The 75-year-old said he was “dumbstruck” when finding out about his win. The tears began to flow, and he just didn’t know what to say. When finally finding the words to describe how he felt, Mr Stanley said “I honestly cannot believe it.”

The People’s Postcode Lottery win was good news for his family. Alan and his wife Yvonne treated their six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The wins continued throughout the year with over 2,000 people winning at least £1,000. December saw 15 neighbours celebrate winning a total of £480,000. One of the lucky winners was Irene Wordingham. The 75-year-old retired cook won a £30,000 People’s Postcode Lottery prize.

A good ending

Her win was a happy ending to what she described as a “bad year.” Her two daughters had battled illness during 2021, so the People’s Postcode Lottery win was “a good ending” and “absolutely brilliant.”
