Players Celebrate $1 million Valentine’s Day Scratchcard Wins

Valentine’s Day was just a special one for lovers around the world. It was also a successful one for a scratchard player in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, USA.

There are many different forms of love. Matthew Broadley was given a Valentine’s Day card by his mother. Inside were two scratchcards and one of them has changed his life forever.

As is often the case, the first scratchcard didn’t produce a winner but a big shock was on the way. It was a totally different story with the second one and won him a $1 million prize in the Jumbo Cash game.

It’s no surprise therefore that when claiming his prize, he said: “Thanks mom.” He’s decided to accept his winnings as a one-off payment of $650,000 which will now be subjected to tax. The lucky scratchcard player hasn’t said just how he’ll spend his winnings. It’d be a massive surprise though if his mother wasn’t bought something very special.

Success after split

Not everyone is lucky in love but a man from Northlake in Illinois, USA, is definitely lucky with scratchcards. He didn’t have “a special someone” to spend Valentine’s Day with, which was a bit of a surprise for him. Just three days before Valentine’s Day he and his girlfriend split up.

He was all out of love but a change of luck was on its way. A $1 million prize was won playing the Monopoly 50X scratchcard. It put his poor love life out of his head for a short while and says “I immediately felt my life change” when scratching off the winning ticket. That’s just like  another scratchcard player in Illinois who recently won $3 million.

"After I scratched the winning ticket, I completely panicked," the shocked player admitted. In fact, he was so surprised that he very nearly didn’t go to work. Unlike a lot of scratchcard and lottery winners, he kept the news of his win to himself. That wasn’t an easy task and he admits: “I’ve been going crazy keeping this million-dollar secret,” the lucky player commented.
