People’s Postcode Lottery Winner Gives £100,000 to Grandchildren

Kath has been living Queen Street in Nottingham for 53 years. Now the address has won her a £140,909 People’s Postcode Lottery prize and she’s already given £100,000 to her four grandchildren.

Her big win came as part of the £3.1 million prize in August’s Postcode Millions draw. There were 970 lucky players in Nottingham’s NG16 5 postcode.Six other of her neighbours also landed a £140,909 prize. However, two of the lucky Queen Street winners play with more than one ticket. One players has won £281,818, while one who has four tickets ha won a fantastic £563,636.

Kath has been rather busy helping others during the pandemic. This has included doing shopping for those shielding at home and sewing scrubs and masks for NHS staff.

The retired factory machinist saw a request on Facebook and was soon busy making hundreds of scrubs and masks for doctors’ surgeries, care homes and local hospitals. Some of her winnings will buy a defibrillator for their local Post Office.

Husband might get £9

Kath is married to Alan who has Parkinson’s “so we won’t be going on a big holiday.” Instead, she wants to help others and says £100,000 has already been given to her four grandchildren. The People’s Postcode Lottery winner joked "If Alan's lucky he might get the £9 that's left over!"

It’s a win that Kath has been waiting a long time for. “I cannot believe this; I cannot believe this money! I've been at this postcode for 53 years - good things come to those who wait!” said the People’s Postcode Lottery winner.

Another of the People’s Postcode Lottery winners is her next-door neighbour, Wayne. He also won £140,909 and said: "That's brill. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing!" His wife, Tracey has lived in the street all her life but never dreamed doing so would produce a big lottery win.

On her way to Gran Canaria

She also plans on sharing the win with her three children and four grandchildren. Other plans include house renovations and going to Gran Canaria next year for her 55^th birthday. No big celebration though, just a takeaway while babysitting.
