Pandemonium as ‘Lotto Lovelies’ Celebrate €250,000 Lottery Win
An Irish syndicate called the ‘Lotto Lovelies’ have been celebrating a €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 win in the February 1 draw.
The majority of the 34-strong syndicate members work for the Penneys clothing store in Dublin. Of the 34, 23 made their way to National Lottery HQ to claim their fantastic prize.
Amanda Staunton has been running syndicates for the past 12 years. This latest syndicate was formed over a decade ago. The syndicate leader says that it is a “fun way for us to stay connected.”.
They have been hoping that one day they’d share a big win and now those hopes have come true.
There have been some smaller wins in the past but nothing compared to this €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 win. Their winning ticket was purchased from the Spar store in Drogheda Street in Dublin and Amanda had an inkling that their ticket had been a big winner.
The rest of the syndicate were kept in the dark until she could confirm their €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 win with the National Lottery Prize Claims department. Another Dublin syndicate recently won a €1 million EuroMillions prize.
“The room went bananas”
It was the Tuesday after the draw that a team meeting was held at work and Amanda made her big announcement. Recalling that moment, she said that “the room went bananas. It was pandemonium!”
A video update was given to those syndicate members who worked for other Penneys stores. Some thought it might be an early April Fool’s joke. One thing was certain, not a great deal of work got done by the surprised winners
Holiday in the sun
Now the syndicate members are planning how to spend their €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 windfall. Each of them will receive €7,350 and one of the lucky winners has already booked an all-inclusive holiday in the sun. Another is using their winnings to cover orthodontic expenses. In Australia a man discovered an $8 million Oz Lotto win soon after a dental appointment.
