“Overwhelming Feeling” leads to $150,000 Powerball win
Shannon Williams from Murray in Kentucky, USA has won a $150,000 Powerball prize and says she has her late father to thank for her success.
Her win came in the February 24 Powerball draw and came after an emotional weekend for her. The winning ticket was purchased two days before what was her late father’s birthday weekend. He sadly passed away three years ago.
Overwhelming feeling
When stopping to get a drink, Shannon thought to herself “my dad is with me” and that “overwhelming feeling” led to her buying the Powerball ticket.
The lucky player raised American Quarter Horses with her father. Later that day, she sat on a colt called Cadillac for the first time. That was something she’d wanted to do for a couple of years.
Williams, who is also a logistics manager, checked her Powerball ticket soon after the draw had been made. Immediately after finding out about her $150,000 win, she contacted her best friend Britany Nance with her fantastic news..
Her ticket had matched four of the main balls and the Powerball. If it had matched all of the main balls, her ticket would have won the $233 million jackpot. This is the latest Powerball win in Kentucky after Jeffery Goree won $50,000 on the Powerball last year.
Amazingly, this was only the second time that she had played the Powerball draw. Now she’s hooked and will be a regular player hoping for another win.
The numbers that were used from a fortune cookie she received while having a meal with her father six years ago. A man from Maryland had no idea he’d won a $50,000 Powerball prize.
Just what her dad wanted
After payment of taxes, she received $110,000. Plans for her winnings include making charitable donations and building the barn her father always wanted her to have. Also, there will be a front porch so she can sit and watch some incredible sunsets.
Monday’s Powerball draw ended in a rollover, so there’s a $433 million.top prize tomorrow.
