Many lotteries are relatively new but not the El Gordo de Navidad. It was way back in 1812 that this traditional lottery was first held. The simple fact is Christmas simply isn’t Christmas without it.

Tickets have been on sale since July and  the first of the El Gordo de Navidad commercials has already been shown.

A very special draw

There are two machines used for the draw. One draws out the lucky numbers and the other the prize value. In addition to the top prize, there are lots more that can be won. The second-tier is €1.25 million and the next level has a €500,000 prize.

Each of the tickets for this draw has a five-digit number. They are divided into ten décimos (tenths of a ticket) and if you own a winning ticket, then you receive a tenth of the prize fund. That means the top winner will receive €400,000. Now that’s going to make 2024 a Christmas that you’ll never forget.
