No Retirement Yet for Sensible $500,000 Lottery Winner

For a woman from Hastings in New Zealand, her 8 April $500,000 lottery win doesn’t mean her quitting her job and her windfall will be spent sensibly.

Why? Well, the lucky player is on the verge of retiring. No wonder therefore, she said her win “could not have come at a better time.”

The Lotto Strike winner has asked to remain anonymous. However, she has spoken to lottery officials about her great slice of luck which she describes as being “incredible.” From the comments you’ll read, you’ll realise this winner is a very sensible, if surprised winner.

Her $500,000 win is such a shock that she admits  “I am still trying to get my head around it.”  We do know that this lucky player regularly buys lottery tickets and had made her purchase from a Paper Plus store in Hastings a few days before the draw.

It wasn’t until Sunday morning that her lottery ticket was checked and a massive shock was just seconds away. “After circling each number, I said, ‘Wow, look at this!’ I double-looked and triple-looked and started crying after realising I’d won. It was a big shock,” recalled the lottery winner.

Work tomorrow

Soon after her win was claimed at a supermarket and it was time for some celebrations with her friends. A good night was had by all but it couldn’t go on for too long. There was work on Monday morning to think about after all. Despite her success, the lottery winner says she isn’t going to quit her job.

Talking about her future plans, the New Zealander isn’t planning a continual spending spree and says that the win will not change her. Some treats are planned and some house renovations will take place. Aside from that though, “I’m going to stay sensible.”

It’s been a lucky time to buy lottery tickets in Hastings. Last month saw a woman win a $1 million prize. That win was such a shock the winner said she nearly fainted when realising her good luck.
