No Joking for $1.8m Saturday Gold Lotto Winner
For years a woman from Helensvale in Queensland, Australia has been joking about winning the lottery. It’s no joke now after winning $1.8 million in the October 21 Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
In total the Gold Coast resident won a total of $1,818,181,82. Her Saturday Gold Lotto ticket was unregistered so lottery organisers couldn’t contact her. It wasn’t until she was shopping for a present that her amazing discovery was made.
Biggest win ever
“I’ve never won that type of money in my life,” said the shocked winner when being interviewed. The Saturday Gold Lotto winner says she isn’t a regular player of lotteries. Tickets are only purchased once in a while and her biggest win has only been $16 or $17.
At the time her family hadn’t been told about the big win. All those conversations about ‘If we win lotto, we could do this’ are now a reality. Plans for her winnings include helping family members, especially her son and daughter as “they need it the most.”
There were 11 tickets that shared the Saturday Gold Lotto jackpot. Another of the winners was a woman from Monto, also in Queensland.
Her ticket had been registered so lottery officials were able to surprise her. “Oh my god! I’m shaking. I can’t believe I’ve won $1.8 million.” was her immediate reaction.
Some winners can’t wait to tell as many people as possible about their success. Not this one though who said: “I don’t think I’ll be telling many people, but I’ll definitely be celebrating tonight!”
Lifetime dream to be achieved
Part of her Saturday Gold Lotto winnings will go towards achieving a lifetime dream. “I’d love to put the prize towards a house. I’ve always wanted to own a home in my name,” said the delighted winner.
Her winning ticket was purchased from the Monto Newsagency. That is owned by Therese Roger who said that it’s only the second division one winning entry they’ve sold with the other being nine years ago.
