New Zealand Lotto winner feels “frickin amazing” after taking home $1 million
An anonymous winner who took home a $1 million prize on the New Zealand Lotto has said that she feels “frickin amazing” after winning, but still doesn’t quite believe it.The lottery winner, who is from Porirua on the North Island of New Zealand, wished to keep her identity private, but did release a statement through the New Zealand Lotto as she said “it still doesn’t feel real, but it’s truly amazing.” The woman purchased her ticket from the Waitangirua Four Square store close to her home, and she checked it on the New Zealand Lotto’s ticket checker app on her phone shortly after the draw took place. When the screen flashed up with “major prize winner,” the New Zealand Lotto winner said that she immediately jumped into her car and drove down to the store where she bought the ticket to find out exactly how much she had won. Arriving at the store, the Lotto winner said that the clerk behind the counter mentioned that there had been a major win at the shop, which perhaps could tussle with other Lotto retailers in New Zealand for the title of luckiest store, but she didn’t expect that major win to be hers.“As he popped it into the machine, he casually mentioned there had been a major win at the store – I didn’t really think anything of it,” she explained. “Then a little tune played and the retailer said to me really quietly over the counter: ‘it’s you.’”As the store clerk took her into the back of the store to show her the prize, the New Zealand Lotto winner said that she was expecting an amount around $1,000, of which she said “I thought that was pretty awesome.” But soon enough, the Lotto player realised that she had actually won $1 million, with pretty similar feelings to those of another North Island lottery winner who won $4 million in May.“I called my husband and just balled my eyes out, I just couldn’t believe it. I still can’t really,” she said as she described her shock which is reminiscent of that of Colin and Brenda Roberts who were shocked to win £4 million on the UK Lotto. The New Zealand Lotto winner said that she and her husband have been buying tickets every now and again for the last ten years, but they never imagined that she would actually win big, despite dreaming of this moment for years. Not unlike a recent Australian Lotto winner of $100,000, the couple plans to pay off their mortgage with their winnings, as well as take a trip to Australia for Christmas. “Life will certainly be easier, that’s for sure. Day-to-day life won’t change too much, but it’ll make a real difference knowing we have a today nest egg tucked away for a rainy day”, said the lucky winner. To be in with a chance of winning, why don’t you purchase your lottery tickets online at Lottery24.com.
