NEW YORK LOTTERY PLAYER WIN $1 MILLION POWERBALL PRIZE BUT STILL HASN’T CLAIMED IT
A lottery player from a village in New York State has won $1 million on a Powerball ticket, but hasn’t come forward to claim the prize almost a week alter. The lucky winner purchased their Powerball ticket from Smokers Choice in the village of Catskill, in upstate New York for the lottery drawing on January 17th. The store said that the ticket was purchased between January 14th and 17th, but they were unable to pin down the exact date. Last year an Irish Lottery winner came forward after a two week search for the winner of a £40,000 prize.Smokers Choice is a chain tobacco store, and the company Vice President announced last week that they’d sold a winning ticket at the store in Catskill, Greene County. “As a lottery vendor for many years, Smokers Choice loves to see happy smiles when our customers win,” said Vice President Doug Nolan. “Today, however, we are thrilled to announce that one of our customers is the lucky winner of a $1 million Powerball prize.” The Powerball jackpot has previously been won in New York, with a $137 million prize being taken home by a player on Staten Island. The winning ticket matched Powerball numbers 3, 33, 37, 51, and 57, missing out the Powerball number which was 21, and apparently the lucky winner chose to use a Quick Pick method, whereby the machine picks random numbers for the player. Recently a man from Virginia won $1 million on the Mega Millions after choosing a Quick Pick ticket. If the New York player had also matched the Powerball, he or she would have been the winner of a $62 million jackpot. A village in Ireland had a similar mystery recently, when one of its 300 residents won €11.1 million on the Irish Lotto. The lucky Powerball winner beat odds of 1 in 11,688,053 to win the $1 million prize, and was the only ticket holder in the country to win the second tier prize on January 17th. The lottery winner could just be taking their time to come forward, as did a Mega Millions jackpot winner last year when he took over a month to claim his $188 million.“We have not yet identified the lucky ticketholder,” Mr Nolan continued. “So we ask all of our customers to check their tickets, because, hey, you never know – it could be you.”Purchase your tickets online now at Lottery24.com, to be in with a chance of winning.
