New Number Leads to $12 million Australian Powerball Jackpot

A man from Lara in Victoria, Australia changed one of his numbers recently and now he’s won  a $12 million jackpot in the Australian Powerball draw held on July 4.

His ticket was the only division one winner in the draw which meant he won all of the jackpot on offer.

Off to work

You might imagine that a restless night would follow and he’d have a day off work, perhaps even retire. However, this lucky Australian Powerball player got up as normal and went to work. That’s just like  a recent $150 million Australian Powerball winner.

Talking about his win, he said that “it honestly hasn’t sunk in. It’s a lot of money to process.” He then recalled how he found out about his $12 million Australian Powerball win.

The Lara resident said that he can’t remember the last time he tuned in to see the lottery draw live. Some “odd reason” led to him watching the draw that has changed his life. He couldn’t believe seeing all his numbers appear.

The Australian Powerball winner had no problem recognising his numbers. He knows them off by heart but his win came shortly after making a change to them.

“I had recently added in a new number because of someone’s birthday.” Little did he know that change would lead to him winning an Australian Powerball jackpot.

What next for the jackpot winner?  “I’m not going to tell anyone. I’m going to keep it on the down low and process it all.”

Transition into retirement

He’s already started to cut his working hours and says this will help him “transition into retirement.”

His winning Australian Powerball ticket was bought from the Lara Lotto Cards & GIfts store. That’s owned by Meena Misra and she was delighted to have sold the winning ticket.

“We’re so happy and it’s great knowing our team sold a division one winning entry worth a life-changing $12 million!” said the store owner.

2024 has been a lucky year to buy tickets from her store. March saw their group syndicate win a $2.5 million TattsLotto prize.
