New Feather Duvet for £1 million EuroMillions Winners
Craig and Karen Mitchell from Wakefield in Yorkshire England, were already enjoying their holiday in Scotland. It got even better when they received news of a £1 million EuroMillions win.
What would be the first item you’d buy if winning a £1 million EuroMillions prize? Well for this lucky couple it was a feather duvet. It’s not just the warmth and comfort that they will appreciate. It also brings back memories of the moment they discovered they’d become lottery millionaires.
They found out the make of the duvet and before you can say ‘a comfortable night’s sleep’ they’d bought one. As Karen, 53, joked: “Possibly not your obvious first purchase.”
Just a tenner?
It was on a Saturday morning that their lives changed forever. They’d enjoyed a walk along the beach and then had breakfast. Craig, also 53, then saw he’d received a message from the National Lottery informing him of a win. His wife thought it might be “just a tenner” they’d won but suggested he call them anyway.
When the £1 million win was revealed, Karen began “dancing and whooping with joy.” Her husband described it as a “surreal moment” and the other guests wondered what was going on. .
When they were told by the couple that they had news to tell them, the hotel guests feared the worst. Then the news of the £1 million EuroMillions win was revealed. “Their faces were a picture,” recalled Karen who works as a special cancer care nurse. Then they started celebrating the great news.
Amazing adventure
Next to be told were their two sons. They want a Canada Goose coat and new golf clubs now their parents are millionaires. Helping “those dearest to us” is important for Karen as they embark on this “amazing adventure.”
The EuroMillions winner has already bought a new car and her husband is busy deciding which one to buy. Their mortgage has also been paid off.
The latest EuroMillions draw saw a ticket sold in Portugal win the €67.3 million jackpot. Friday’s draw has a £14 million top prize.
