That’s not an unusual occurrence as the Lindsay family from California, USA, took a month to claim their $447.8m Powerball jackpot winnings.The family explained they were receiving financial advice over their massive Powerball win. That’s a course of action highly recommended by Pennsylvania Lottery spokesman Gary Miller. “We encourage winners to take some time, talk to a financial adviser and do some homework on how this major win will change their lives.”If you do get a big win then financial planner, Mark Vergenes, recommends you put your ticket in a safe deposit and don’t tell anyone. John and Lisa Robinson from Florida, USA, didn’t even initially tell their children about their $528.7m Powerball win.Sometimes though, the winner just isn’t aware of their lottery luck such as Daniel Chase from Michigan, USA, who had a $1m winning Powerball ticket in his wallet for two months.Meanwhile in New Jersey, USA, speculation is rife over who won, what was eventually revealed to be a $533m Mega Millions win in the March 30 draw. The winning ticket was sold at the Lukoil petrol station in Riverdale who have received $30,000 for selling the winning Mega Millions ticket.Owner Ameer Kass has been checking surveillance footage and believes the Mega Millions winner is male, local and a regular customer. Hopefully he won’t go through the stress that Australian store owner Sam Misiano has been going through as he waits for the winner of the $55m Australian Powerball jackpot ticket he sold in January to come forward.“I know them, and they are one of our regulars, which is great,” Krass said. “That’s what we were hoping for. Although we have hundreds, maybe thousands of customers, we know the majority of them by face, by name."The convenience store owner added that he hasn’t tried to contact the winner and believes they should be given “the space they deserve".
