National Lottery Winners Give Tom a Fantastic Christmas
Luxury Christmas hampers have been given out by National Lottery winners. One who received such a lovely seasonal gift was 104-year-old war veteran Tom Beevers.
He was presented with a giant luxury Christmas hamper last week. Giving him the hamper were £12.4 million EuroMillions winners, Sharonand Nigel Mather from Cheshire. It proved to be an emotional presentation for the couple who won their jackpot 11 years ago.
Mr Beeverslives in theMaghull area of Liverpool and was delighted to receive the Christmas hamper. He was one of the ‘Desert Rats’ that famously fought in North Africa during the second World War. The war veteran survived that experience but had another battle to fight earlier this year. He went down with ccvid but again showed his battling spirit to see off the virus.
Now he’s looking forward to Christmas more than ever thanks to this gift from the National Lottery. “I just could not believe it when this happy, smiling couple arrived outside my house with a huge hamper,” said Tom. It’s not just all the gorgeous mouth-watering food that made his day.
Just what he wanted
It may be a cold December, but the war veteran was overjoyed that the hamper also contained some Grinderpunch wraparound sunglasses. He’s long wanted a pair and receiving them makes it a “dream come true Christmas for me this year.”
Tom was also serenaded with Christmas songs by members of the LMA Choir. The 104-year-old joined in with ‘Silent Night,’ despite thinking he might have been singing the wrong song.
Helping veterans
14 veterans from across the city of Liverpool received the luxury Christmas hampers. They receive help from Everton in the Community. They’ve had reason to celebrate too, having received £275K in National Lottery funding last September.
The National Lottery funding will be received over five years and help the Everton Veterans’ Hub. They all received their much-appreciated gifts from National Lottery winners. Between them the lucky players had won £22.3 million. Sharon Mather said that “seeing the pure joy on Tom’s fae has made Nigel’s and my Christmas too.”
