Last Minute Purchase Wins $1 million Monday & Wednesday Lotto Prize
A woman from Berrigan in New South Wales, Australia has won $1 million playing the Monday & Wednesday Lotto but so nearly forgot to buy a ticket for the draw.
It was on the first day of May that the lucky player became a millionaire. What a way to start a new month!
Her Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket was registered, so the lottery company knew how to contact her. They did that the morning after the draw and a rather tired woman answered the phone.
“I’m a bit dazed by it all,” joked the delighted winner who then explained how she found out about her win.
It was late in the evening and her husband had already gone to bed. His wife was still up and watching television but then decided to check her Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket. Her hopes weren’t high of a big win. “Normally I get division six or something like that,” she said.
“That can’t be right”
Not this time though and she couldn’t believe $1 million had been won. “That can’t be right,” she thought. Another check convinced her that the top prize had been won.
The shocked player then woke her husband up and showed him the ticket. He just “lay there in shock” at what he was seeing.
It was around 1am when she finally got to sleep. When waking up, she checked her ticket again “just to make sure it was real.” A man from New South Wales was on a golf course when being told of his $1 million Monday & Wednesday Lotto win.
Late purchase
It’s a win that nearly didn’t happen at all. The lucky winner had forgotten to buy a ticket and when finally remembering bought her ticket online just minutes before the deadline.
The win is going to “help a heap” and her first aim is to pay off the mortgage. “That will take a lot of pressure off,” said the Monday & Wednesday Lotto winner. Other plans for the windfall is to help set her children up for the future.
