MELBOURNE MAN IS ONE OF TWO RECORD BREAKING POWERBALL LOTTERY WINNERS
A man in his 20s from Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, has become one of two players who won a record-breaking Australian Powerball jackpot. The Melbourne man came forward on Friday after the record breaking $100 million Powerball drawing which took place on Thursday August 16
th. He is currently the only one of the two winners to have come forward, and he told lottery officials that he found out about his success almost immediately after the drawing. Earlier this year two tickets shared the largest Oz Lotto jackpot in five years when a $70 million prize was shared. The anonymous winner said that he checked his ticket just before going to bed on Thursday night, and so when his head finally hit the pillow he already knew that he was a millionaire. “I’m trying to remain as calm as possible,” the winner said. “I only bought this entry last night on the Oz Lotteries app before the draw closed.” A man from Canberra who won $50 million on the Australian Powerball said that he had several sleepless nights after finding out about his good fortune. The Melbourne man said that he is going to use his $50 million share of the Powerball prize to make a difference for his entire family. “I’m going to do the right thing,” he said. “This win is life changing.” The Powerball prize is going to be invested in property and shares in order to make the absolute most of it, “It will make a massive difference to a lot of people.” A Lotto Max win for a woman in Newfoundland was also described as ‘life-changing’ as it came just days after a near tragedy. The other Powerball winner from this Thursday’s drawing was sold in southwest Sydney at a news agency in the Canterbury-Bankstown area, but as it was not a registered entry, lottery officials have no way of contacting the lucky player. The winning Powerball numbers were 3, 13, 27, 31, 32, 33 and 35, with the Powerball number 3. Another Melbourne lottery player won on the Australian Powerball earlier this year and took six months to claim their $55 million prize. The $100 million jackpot matched a record set by the Oz Lotto in 2012, but it is the highest Powerball jackpot in history. The largest jackpot to have been won by a single ticket was a $70 million Powerball prize won by a couple in Queensland in 2016. Earlier this year we announced some changes made to the Australian Powerball which hoped to create bigger jackpots, just like this one!For your chance of becoming a winner, play online at Lottery24.com.
